Chilly and murky central-eastern countries
Thursday Rain affects south-western Spain, also Portugal. Staying dry until evening in east and northern Spain, highs 15 to 18C on Mediterranean Costas. A few showers for central-western France. Sunshine and a few showers around the coasts of Italy. Up to 20C for Sicily. Showery toward south-eastern Europe, focused around the Bosporus, although mainland Greece should be mainly dry. High pressure is located over Scandinavia and eastern Europe, resulting in largely dry conditions for central & eastern countries, including the Alps. However, it will be chilly and dull, with a risk of extensive fog, and temperatures only 1 to 4C for Germany and Poland. Murky too for Baltic regions, whilst western Norway should see some sunshine.
Friday Early rain for eastern Spain should break up, leaving a bright day for much of Spain and Portugal, highs 16C. Heavy rain for the south of France, moving into north-west Italy, and falling as snow over the Alps. Showery for Biscay coasts, also the far north-west of Spain. The Low Countries and central-eastern Europe remain dry, with high pressure focused toward the east. A risk of staying murky with extensive low cloud and fog. A good deal of sunshine for southern Italy, the Balkans and Greece. Thundery for Cyprus. Much of Scandinavia will also stay dry. Windy with frequent snow showers for northern Norway.
