Unsettled conditions prevail across most areas of Europe through the weekend, despite some drier weather in places


Sunday
Into Sunday and the main focus across Europe will be the development of a deep area of low pressure, in situ, over France. This will bring some very heavy rain and thunderstorms to much of France through the day along with increasingly windy conditions as well. Similar conditions will extend southwards into Spain and Portugal where showery, perhaps with longer spells of rain and with a chilly W or NW'ly wind. Showery conditions dominate across much of Scandinavia while the best conditions will be across more eastern areas of Europe including parts of Poland and Slovakia where high pressure will dominate with some warm spells of sunshine. Rather unsettled conditions, given low pressure, will dominate through much of the Med through the day. While some sunny spells are forecast with warm temperatures afternoon heavy showers and downpours are likely to develop widely across Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and westwards towards Italy and surrounding countries too.

Monday
During Monday and it is still low pressure that will dominate bringing some unusually wet and windy conditions to parts of England and also northern areas of France. Cool and showery conditions will prevail across much of Spain and Portugal in association with a N or NW'ly wind. Low pressure and thundery conditions, perhaps with some longer spells of rain will extend eastwards into Germany, Denmark and Poland through the day as high pressure across eastern areas of Europe from Saturday retreats into western areas of Russia. A weak area of high pressure is forecast to develop through parts of the Med during the day, but this is unlikely to stop another day of sunshine and afternoon downpours through much of the Med but with focus for some heavy downpours across parts of Italy and then also into Greece and Turkey once again during the afternoon. It will, however, be warm or very warm across much of southern areas of Europe, cool or rather chilly in the north.
