Heavy showers affecting central and eastern Europe easing at the weekend
Friday Largely dry and fine across Spain and Portugal but always more cloud and some patchy drizzle to the very far north. One or two scattered showers across the Balearics perhaps into Corsica and Sardinia but mostly dry otherwise. Frequent, heavy showers in northern Italy but mostly dry elsewhere here. Dry and sunny across Greece and Turkey. Outbreaks of showery rain moving across France, clearing many places in the west through the day. Breezy for many. Unsettled across the Low Countries, Germany, Switzerland and Austria with showery rain, turning heavy and thundery later. Some rain for the far northeast of Poland, otherwise dry. Showery rain moving into many other regions of eastern Europe later. With high pressure over Russia ridging into Scandinavia much of Norway, Sweden and Finland will be dry though the very far southern regions here could catch one or two heavier showers. Denmark will be unsettled with heavy showers and or longer spells of rain. These showers moving into southern Baltic states later.
Saturday Dry and fine with plenty of sunshine across the Mediterranean, though a few scattered showers cannot be completely ruled out across Italy into northwestern areas of Greece. An improving day across France with any rain becoming confined towards the northeast. Heavy showers expected across the Low Countries through the morning but also improves in the afternoon with drier and brighter weather following here. Unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain across much of Germany and Poland. Some showers affecting Switzerland and Austria. Morning showers across Croatia clear in the afternoon. Largely dry with sunny spells across Scandinavia curtesy of the high pressure across Russia, however, there will be some patchy rain across southern parts of Sweden pushing into some Baltic States later. Any showers in Denmark largely clearing through the day.
