Increasingly Fine and Settled
Cool North, Very Warm Elsewhere

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 23rd June 2018
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Increasingly fine and settled conditions are forecast over the weekend, but with quite varied temperatures

Saturday
Into Saturday and high pressure building across much of the UK and western areas of Europe does mean plenty of fine summer weather across the UK and down into France and also into parts of Belguim and western areas of Germany too, but rather cool here. More unsettled conditions with rain or showers continue across Scandinavia with some particularly cool and wet conditions across more northern areas of Norway and Finland. Much of Spain and Portugal will be very warm with sunny spells but scattered after thunderstorms and similar conditions will extend eastwards through much of the Med during the day, perhaps with some severe storms across parts of Greece and Turkey later on.

Sunday
During Sunday and not a great deal of change is predicted with a large and dominant area of high pressure becoming slow moving over the UK and extending down into much of France, the Netherlands, Germany and perhaps down into Switzerland too, for example. Very warm and sunny weather, but with scattered thundery downpours will continue across Iberia, while further cool and rather unsettled conditions are forecast across parts of Scandinavia, primarily Finland and Sweden and also down into parts of Poland and surrounding countries too. Very warm and humid through much of the Med still, plenty of sunshine but the usual scattered inland downpours are possible almost anywhere.
