Rain most widespread in eastern Europe


Wednesday
Afternoon thunderstorms breaking out over northeastern Spain, around the Pyrenees and Alps, but southern Spain, Portugal and much of France will be dry with hot sunshine. Temperatures widely into the mid or high 30s Celsius for Spain and locally in southwest France. A few scattered showers for central and southern Italy, whilst the Balearics, Corsica and Sardinia stay dry.
Mainly dry for the Balkan states. Thundery rain breaking out through the day for mainland Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, plus southern Ukraine, Poland and Slovakia. The Greek islands and Cyprus stay dry.
High pressure produces plenty of dry and weather across northern Europe, including Germany and the Low Countries with an easterly breeze here. Sunny and dry for much of Scandinavia, although northern Norway may be grazed by a patchy rain or showers. Highs of 30C in eastern Sweden.


Thursday
Slack pressure and a hot, humid airmass influences much of Europe. Thunderstorms forming widely over northern Spain and extending into west & southwest France. Southern Spain and Portugal stay hot and dry.
A scattering of afternoon showers or thunderstorms for the Alps, central and northern Italy and the Balkans. Much of the Mediterranean will be dry and sunny, including the Greek islands. Thundery rain for Romania, Bulgaria and southern Poland, also spreading into northern Germany and the Czech Republic. Dry for southern Germany and the Low Countries.
High pressure continues to influence Scandinavia, with lots of very warm and sunny weather across Norway, Sweden and Finland. Local bursts of rain possible in the far north.
