Wet and windy Scandinavia


Saturday
High pressure over France, Spain and Portugal brings a warm day with plenty of sunshine. The western Med also stays dry. Areas of thundery showers for southern and eastern Italy, the Balkan states and mainland Greece. The Greek islands and Cyprus will be generally dry. Areas of thundery rain extend across Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine.
Patchy rain for the coasts of the Netherlands. Generally damp and windy for Denmark with rain on and off, setting in heavier later. Central Europe will be mostly dry with variable cloud, across Germany an the Czech Republic, feeling quite humid. A little rain or drizzle for Poland. Showers locally over the Alps.
Rain for southern Sweden, and some heavy falls into southwest Finland, whilst much of Norway stays dry. Rain arrives in the far south of Norway later in the day. Drizzly rain for the Baltic states may turn heavier in Estonia.


Sunday
Staying warm and sunny across southwestern Europe. Hot for southwestern Spain and Portugal, topping 40C. Dry across the western Mediterranean, north and central Italy, whilst some showers affect the south. Thundery rain for mainland Greece, Bulgaria and Romania. Areas of rain too for central Ukraine.
A brisk west to southwesterly wind influences northern Europe, driven by low pressure over the North Sea. A scattering of showers for northern France, the Low Countries and Germany. Alpine regions, plus Hungary and Slovakia will be generally dry. Occasional rain for Poland and the Baltic States.
Frequent rain for Denmark, and prolonged heavy rain for southern Norway and Sweden. Some areas of rain also spread across Finland, but some dry spells too across northern Scandinavia.
