Hot in south, briefly fresher France & Germany


Saturday
High pressure and fairly fresh conditions influences France, the Low Countries and Germany, 21 to 25C. Unsettled for Scandinavia, with low pressure across the far north bringing wind and rain to northern Norway and Sweden. Showery for southern Scandinavia, but largely dry in Finland. Clusters of thunderstorms affect Poland, western Ukraine and Slovkia. Areas toward the Black Sea remain hot and dry, with fair weather also across Greece and the Aegean Sea, temperatures topping 30C. A few showers for the Austrian Alps, but drier further west into Switzerland. One or two zones of thunderstorms for south-east Spain, also southern Italy, otherwise the Mediterranean stays hot and dry. Temperatures nudging back toward 40C in Portugal and the south-west of Spain.


Sunday
Plenty of dry weather across the continent with fairly high pressure in charge. Local showers for the Pyrenees, Alps and down the spine of Italy. Hot and sunny for Spain and Portugal, 35 to 40C in central and southwestern areas. Temperatures climbing to 32 to 36C in central-southern France. Warming up again for the Low Countries to 28C, and around 24 to 28C or locally warmer in Germany. A front over the English Channel brings rain to north-western France. Local showers for eastern Europe and the Balkans, but lots of dry and warm weather. Highs of 33C in Hungary. Patchy rain for Denmark, edging north into southern Norway later. Unsettled with frequent rain and brisk winds for the Baltic states and southern Finland. Showery for northern Norway.
