High winds and wintry showers for northwestern Europe on Sunday


Sunday
The north coast of Spain will see strong winds and persistent rainfall through Sunday while the Pyrenees could see some good snow accumulations. The rest of Iberia will be largely dry and bright though cloud will build from the west through the afternoon. Mainly bright for the Balearics though Menorca could see rain moving in through the evening while Corsica and Sardinia will be rather overcast through the day with rain for western areas. An overcast day too for Italy with a chance of showers away from southern areas while Greece will have a largely dry and bright day. Coastal showers for western Turkey too, drier and brighter inland.
Sunday will be a wet and windy day for France and the Low Countries with the chance of snow increasing further to the south and east. Windy with a mixture of sunshine and wintry showers for Germany with the best chance of any brightness in the east. Wintry showers too for Switzerland while it should stay mainly dry and bright for Austria. Overcast for Poland with snow and wintry showers in the north.
A wet day for Denmark with rain easing by the evening while the Baltics will see some good sunny spells through the day before a band of snow moves in from the west by the evening. Dry and very cold for Finland and northern parts of Sweden and Norway on Sunday while southern parts of Sweden and Norway will see light but persistent snowfall through the day.


Monday
Rain continues for the northern coast of Spain through Monday and could be very heavy towards the western Pyrenees. Snow will also persist for the Pyrenees. Some showery rain for western Portugal while the rest of Iberia will see a mixture of cloudy skies and sunny spells. The Balearics will be rather overcast with a chance of showers while rain will persist for Corsica and Sardinia. Low pressure will bring heavy bursts of rain, falling as snow over the Appenines, to Italy though it should remain dry and bright in the southeast. Heavy rain and snow for western parts of Greece and the Balkans, overcast for eastern Greece and Turkey.
Monday sees a mixture of sunny spells and cloudy skies for much of France with some snow showers lingering in the southeast and light rain moving into the northwest. An overcast day for Benelux with rain easing through the afternoon but leaving showers in its wake. A chance of snow for much of Germany on Monday with the exception of the northeast where it will be showery. Light snowfall is expected too for Switzerland and eastern parts of Austria. Wintry showers for the Czech Republic while it should remain largely dry but cloudy for Poland.
Snow showers for Denmark on Monday while a band of snow will move from south to north across the Baltics throughout the day. Snow will move into southern Finland by the late afternoon too. Snow will also spread northward through Sweden on Monday and will linger for southeastern parts of Norway too. A separate band of snow will impact western parts of Norway too through the day on Monday.
