Some light rain for the west of Scotland and over Ireland. Local bursts of rain may form over eastern Scotland and northern England by late afternoon, risk of an isolated thundery downpour. Southerly breezes, strongest in the west. Highs 25 to 29C England and Wales, nearer 20C toward west; 17 to 21C Scotland and Ireland.

Tuesday night
Dry for most places in England, Wales and Ireland. Chance of a local residual patch of rain for northern England - greater risk of patchy rain toward east and northern Scotland, remnants of evening showers which may give some heavier bursts locally. Misty in these areas following rain. Light winds and feeling rather muggy. Lowest temperatures 14 to 17C England and Wales, nearer 20C in southern towns and cities; 10 to 14C Scotland and Ireland.

Wednesday
Many places dry with warm sunshine and variable high cloud. Some patchy rain for central Scotland in the morning. Local afternoon showers may form, chance of an isolated thunderstorm forming later, mainly western areas. Risk of fog along eastern coasts of England and Scotland. Light and variable winds, sea breezes. Highs 27 to 30C for the Midlands and Home Counties, 19 to 23C elsewhere, but cooler if misty on the east coast.

Thursday
A cold front moving in from the west. Low pressure over the Atlantic pushes rain and showers into the west of Britain and Ireland, but areas further south and east more likely dry and warm. Localised thundery bursts may develop over eastern England. Southern counties more likely dry. Strong southwesterly breezes in the west. Highs 18 to 28C, warmest southeast England, feeling humid here, but becoming fresher from the west.
