Dry around the Baltic; rain spreads from south-west across Scandinavia

Tuesday
Hot and dry for Spain and Portugal, topping 35C toward the south-west, nearer 25C on the Biscay coast. Breezy in western Iberia. Fair weather extends across the Mediterranean, with lots of sunshine for Italy, Greece and the Balkans, 30 to 35C. Local thunderstorms for the Alps and Romania, mostly afternoon and evening.
A cold front moves across France from the west, bringing brightening skies for Biscay coasts and Brittany, but triggers heavy rain and thunder for northern areas, also affecting Belgium and the Low Counties. Humid for Germany, then severe thunderstorms develop from the west. Rain also spreads into western Scandinavia, setting in across south-west Norway. Meanwhile, Sweden, Finland, the Baltic states and Poland stay dry and warm under the influence of high pressure to the east.

Wednesday
Heat builds again across Iberia, well into the 30s for much of Portugal, and approaching 40C in southern Spain. Staying hot and dry across the Mediterranean. Thunderstorms breaking out for the Alps, and also the mountains of Romania. Thundery rain also develops for western Ukraine and Belarus.
High pressure influences France, the Low Countries and Germany, bringing a fair and warm day. Fair too in Hungary and the Balkans, around 33C. A front passing north & east brings rain to Poland and the Czech Republic, plus rain also spreads across Sweden. Brighter for Norway, although risk of a few showers. Rain later reaches the Baltic states, but Finland should stay dry all day, 22C.
